The Romanian question

Our friend in Romania is not an official Indesit agent AFAIK but he seems to have access to the software required to test & reprogram ( I hate Americanisms) eeproms etc.

Has anyone bothered to ask him how he has access to this, and more to the point could we get hold of it from him.

PS. I edited this post because I initially titiled it ‘The Baron’ but realised that would not look to good to him on the scrolling doofer. I edited the title twice and instead of editing the post, three separate posts appeared. I swiftly deleted the two I did not want but in the past few days I have had several minor glitches with server time outs, log outs in the middle of a session, warings that I cannot post again etc. Is the hamster in need of a feed?

My English is very much , ‘Owd Lanky’, Romanian is definately off the radar.

For instance, try and translate this from a recent post from Baron.

For desoldering SMD chips is just a fear … I can tell how to desolder in gross manner (which works on field)… At beginning you have to try on damaged PCB (to get experience):
– put enough solder one both parts of case until all four legs are together in two forms (like rice) . After that you have to melt solder consecutive (alternate) on both parts and with one tweezers you gone fill when is free to remove.
– To remove remaining solder from PCB use thin Cu-wire or desoldering stripe

Overheating to long and removing (pulling) rush will possible damage PCB.

I know that ordering new chips are available only normal case (DIP) so you have to clean old SMD space and plant new one in that place marked on PCB.

Adrian – he’s a very clever chap. He covers a huge patch, due to the lack of independent repairers over there – people will frequently bring him major appliances to sort out.

I think he does remarkably well sharing tech stuff in English as a second language. After all, look at the tripe we deal with in English most days and a lot of that from our colleagues!

Be nice to him…….
