Thinking in stuff to do for Feb in March…

    Things Customers Say

Use real quotes from customers, the usual bollocks we all hear about “I’ve been washing clothes for 30 years… ” and all that crap. Talk around that and how that the engineers and manufacturer call staff especially have to be more learned and to assert their knowledge to shoot the idiots down.

Harsh perhaps, but probably a good topic for discussion.

Draw comparisons to the car industry where people get told to do one when they tell the dealer that they don’t have a clue.

Point being, customers need put in their box a lot and engineers need to do it. That is, if the call staff don’t do it first.

Leads into, why the **** do manufacturers/brands back the engineers up when they do their job and give in to the muppets?

Which leads into the question, why can’t we all just work together and play nice rather than having to be confrontational and lie all the time? Pointing out of course that almost all parties are culpable in that one.

    Our Survey Says…

How about we survey the members of UKW?

Get thoughts opinion and so on and see what we can discover about what the troops thing then Lawrence (yes, you got volunteered) and I talk around that?

Thing is, what do we ask them?

Obviously I have some ideas but it could be considered that I might weight the questions to get the answers that I/we want to talk about. 😉

    Rear View Mirror

We go down the path (rabbit hole) of how the past comes back to haunt and demonstrate just how cyclic the industry and the work in it is.

It would be fun to state the obvious and show what lessons can be drawn from the past but not to let them dominate the future.

    Technophobic

    Self explanatory.

We try to demystify some of the new technologies and, if possible we get some service managers to back up the notion that new technologies are not a thing to run screaming out the room in fear from. And, not to just throw parts at the problems.

Can trip into web stuff, business promotions etc.

    What’s In It For Me?

Tackle that old chestnut head on.

I have a few ideas bouncing about in the brainbox for that one.

And, that’s it, I’m all out of ideas after that unless inspiration strikes. Or Vodka, or JD, or someone pisses me off again or….

Invitation text maybe for Ian to use…

    Whitegoods Conference 2014

The whitegoods conference is to be held on Friday 7th March 2014 at the Hilton Hotel in Coventry.

Once again the conference promises to be one of the industry highlights of the year with the usual blend of wide ranging topics of discussion and stands doing brisk trade.

As most people who have attended in the past the whitegoods conference is a unique and dynamic event that is often centred around events of the moment allowing the content to be tailored even until the evening before the event. For this reason among others it is not possible to fully document quite what subjects will be discussed but, we’re very sure that it will be as interesting and entertaining as ever.

What we can tell you is some of the things that we know are going to happen this time around.

    Customer Service

After last year’s well received talk on customer service, where we postulated that customer service is often more akin to crisis management than service delivery, we are going to explore this area in greater depth.

However in that there should be some twists and turns that may surprise many.

    Our Survey Says…

Although still in the planning stages, we intend to survey members to find out what they really think about some things.

Hard statistical evidence that we want to take a look at in order to find out what the engineers really think about customers, clients and suppliers.

    More To Come

Of course this is merely a flavour of what we have lined up for the next big meeting and, as we say, many things unfold as events do. Some even come along that surprise everyone such as the demise of HI Group last year and, Baumatic this year. Those events we cannot predict and, who knows what will happen between now and March.

If you want to make sure that you are there to find out, register to attend today.

Who knows what you might miss if you don’t.
