Thermostat duff..Fast freeze OK …Can I use something like a Ranco model as a replacement.?If so which type please. The freezer is very basic with no defrosting facility.

Thanks for that Bob..Tried this..freezer did not run .It had been running constantly for a while so was really cold..but after reconnecting as per your post ..no running until things started to get soft inside….warming up thermo -couple by removing from freezer immediately operated thermostat? Will try to measure some temps..Norm

I’m thinking the stat wiring is arse about face? On when off, off when on?

    Hi Norm,

You have broken rule number 8:

    fridge-freezer-forum/professional-advice-the-public-forums-t4360.html

Obviously before removing any wiring you both made a note on paper and took a photo of the original wiring positions?.

A classic example of why it pays to get a professional in.

    Re: Thermostat advice please

Accept that ..but the existing thermostat bares no resemblance connection wise to the original .

    Re: Thermostat advice please

3 & 4 should work ok with the new stat.

It may have been too cold after running continues

Have you tried it since to see if it works.

The stat shown should be available from the whitegoods shop

    Bob
