    Hi
I have what might be a simple question but I have not been able to find the answer on the internet.
I am about to replace the Thermostat on a 2 door fridge freezer
freezer on bottom – LEC T555ws. Auto defrost.
A suitable low cost replacement seems to be a VT9/ K59.
My question is that these come sheathed and bare. Please can anyone advise me what is the purpose of the sheath, is it just for increase protection against knocks and kinks or what and is it important.

the sheath is an added protection for the capillary and the user, just a note on replacing a LEC thermostat with a ranco stat, somtimes the off position is 90 degrees out so you have to adjust the control knob. plug out first.

    Bob.

    Thanks Bob.
Im just dabbling at fixing my own appliance so Ill get an unsheathed one (much cheaper) and see if it works. Ill be careful with it and try not to stab myself as well!
    Happy Christmas.
