    Hi guys

I have the same problem with the HOOVER HNMF2605A L-80 as everyone else, with the fridge compartment freezing over and destroying all the food. I defrosted the whole thing but the unit is still continuously running. Reading through the forum I found a lot of comments suggesting to replace the thermistor. However, as it is foamed-in, I am not so keen on that. Would replacing the thermostat help at all? And if yes, anyone knows where I could get on? On the HOOVER website they only seem to sell thermistors for this model. Also, is exchanging the thermostat on this model as simple as with other fridge/freezers, i.e. opening the front, pulling out the old one and putting in the new?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi

Yes it is possible to replace the sensors. This is done by measuring distances from top and side of the back of the fridge freezer and removing the foam insulation and then fitting the new sensor by soldering and heat shrinking the joints. We’ve done about 20 in about 10 years and use the expanding foam from diy stores to re foam them. After new sensor has been fitted its solved the problems

Sensor is approx 200mm – 300mm from top and 200mm – 300mm from left side looking at the rear dependent on model

    Hi Bryan

Thanks a lot for your reply! It sounds like a bit of a hassle to replace the sensors. I was hoping for just removing the front cover and sticking in a new thermostat in 😀 I guess I’ll have to give the sensor change a shot.

    Thanks again!
