John can’t see this, I think he should or we should kill it. Long overdue IMO.

Sean, this is likely the best place to discuss the DASA ideas you have if we decide to keep this alive.

I thought that he already had access. but he should be in here anyway if not as he’s an integeral part of what we are trying to achieve. With regards the DASA thing we should all have a voice on it, both for and against.

    Re: This Forum

    Hi Dave,

Basically, Dasa has more or less imploded as far as I can see. I say this for several reasons.

    1) The last meeting was cancelled at the last minuite due to not enough people able to attend to hold a legal meeting.

    2) We have even had Scott Pollock turn up at Nursery St Kilmarnoch,
who then informs Ken that he is not going to stand for re-election to council. There are others on the council that are disilusioned and about to chuck it in Phil Kendal, Dave Pannel

    3) Mark Scoggins and Jason Hubby have already stood down from council and have not attended a meeting innearly a year though they remain members.

    4) Dave Combes their current Director has already told Ken that he does not want to carry on doing it and had said that he thinks Ken is the man for the job.

    5) If Dasa goes completely you would never get it back for at least a decade if at all IMHO

If Ken and yourselves saw any milage in it ,then support for him to become Director would be forth coming from the troops.

I do believe that a controling hand in each camp could only be benificial and save a lot opf duplicated effort and expense in things we are trying to do for the trade.

If it is ever to be done the the time is now

Personally I think let it implode and good riddance 😉

Correct me if I’m speaking out of turn but I doubt Ken has the time or the inclination to do anything with DASA either as is or “reborn”.

    Re: This Forum

I dunno. I’ve yet to be fully convinced one way or the other, but then I have a bad habit of leaving my options open.

In part what Sean says is entirely correct.

One thing is for sure, if it is to survive, DASA requires new direction and leadership that isn’t afraid to buck the conventions. Not to do so will seal its ultimate fate and, I suspect, sooner rather than later.

It comes back to the age old question, “Is it worth doing anything with it?”.

With me, for now, the jury’s out and entirely undecided.

Where I see merit in Sean’s ideas is that, working as an iron hand in a velvet glove, DASA and UKW could be a force for change within the industry. However that is not to say that without DASA we would not do so under our own steam.

It depends very much on what happens within the DASA hierarchy and just how far they want to go out on a limb to save it that will determine just what happens next. Frankly, I don’t think that any of them have the stomach for what has to be done and I do not think that the current band of officers has the balls TBH to see it through. They’d be too upset at the disbandment of their little club.

    K.
