ParticipantJust came across this story on Yahoo, have a read it will make you laugh especially when she says it would cost her £200 to get a pro in to replace a fan oven element.
It gets better, I spent about 30 minutes reading through the comments and replies below and it proves that the numpties of this world are still breeding :rotfl:

Interesting story!
I am a beautiful doctor and now I am seeking a good man who can give me real love ….
so i joined —MeetWealthy.C óM——–it’s the most effective site in the world to connect with, date and marry successful, beautiful people.-Meanwhile, . It’s worthy a try. You do not have to be rich or famous…maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends ! i m serious !
Yeah –got cheesed off with the “Sharp intake of breath” merchants years ago! I once saw a gassman writing dates on “Condemned” lables outside my house before He’d inspected the appliance! Sure enough–it was condemned and guess what–he could fit a new one as a foreigner on Saturday. Got it fixed and certified later for half his quote.—–

:hmm: well yes a little over-exaggeration does get peoples attention. A little light research and from the examples shown below, this is the likely cost if you where to choose ‘manufacturers own service’ in getting your fan oven element replaced: –
BSH………..Element £34(incl VAT)Labour £99 (incl VAT) Total £133
Whirlpool..Element £56(incl VAT)Labour £85 (incl VAT) Total £141
Miele……..Element £115(inclVAT)Labour £105(incl VAT) Total £220July 23, 2011 at 3:18 pm #356046wsts

A £200 “average” repair cost is simply nothing but a complete and utter lie, put a google search on and typing in cooker repair will bring up many fixed price repair companies all of which carry no such fee as £200, on top of that you can also find local engineers who are far cheaper, it’s a made up figure to make the savings look massive and make us look like rip off merchants.

read it this morning and was tempted to reply,i wonder how these DIYers would carry out any safety checks?true the price is over exagerated but as wsts stated it was to make engineers look like rip off merchants.i think that even given a realistic price they would think we are rolling in it,they do not consider our out goings/costs before we even attend a call/repair.rant over.
