What type of wash action? (Hoover or Servis/Hotpoint)

A bit more background to my original posting.
I’ve had a dry cleaning business looking for a twintub.
Apparently the twintub is particularly suited for some particular treatment/process they carry out.
They have used a Hoover in the past.
I want to avoid supplying something that behaves differently only to find that it is unsuitable.

Our local Qualtex agent has a t/tub on display in their trade counter area. Don’t think it’s a Thompson though. It’s a plastic body machine and looks similar (on top) to the old Servis t/t, but has a ‘retro’ rounded moulded case.
I’m not sure if Qualtex supply it, if not, post me a PM and I can find out for you. I seem to remember it was keenly priced too. 😉

Hi One of my customers has one of these t/tubs plastic body sort of blue and white in colour no heater and no wheels made in China and from Thmpsons.
She asked if I could fit wheels on which was no prob and she seems happy with the product. Paid just over £300 delivered from a dealer advertising in paper.

Does anyone know if these are decent machines? I’ve never seen one. Whether or not they are as good or better than the Hoover and Hotpoint twin tubs, with the absence of anything else, and a customer really preferring a twin tub, would you be happy to sell one?

I sold one of these to a customer, 2 weeks later refunded their money!
Would not sell any more of them

Yeah as soon as the spinner was used it smashed against the side no matter how much or little was in it, when I complained to my supplier they said they had several the same and blamed delivery!!! saying traders that bought from them localy had no problem???? they then said they would give me a full credit and asked me to dispose of it as the cost of collection would not be worht it. :eeek:
I stripped it down to see if worth doing, but decided to send it to meet its maker! I believe what little metal there was is now cat food tins!

Thanks Allan. I guess the big guns got it right, there’s just not enough demand for them to be able to build a good quality twin tub.

I’ve been selling Thompson twin tubs for about two years and found them pretty good. Started out with the non drain pump model and then the current X10 version with a pump and better build quality. I’ve had a few failures on the spinner side which is a bit of a weakness in these machines. However lots of customers have been very happy with them and i’ve put a few wheeled ones out for old ladies who can’t move it. Thompsons are good at sorting faulty machines if you take them back. There was a huge proft in them but there is a price war on ebay over them and what was selling for £299 is now anything from £139-£169 region which is just silly so I don’t sell them at present as it’s not worth the hassle.
