    Folks,

I put my hands straight up as guilty of having done this a couple of times recently, I apologise for this and it won’t happen again, but:

Let’s none of us use other people’s threads as a playground for interpersonal disputes etc.

If we have something helpful to post, then post.

If it doesn’t help the originator of the thread, or someone with the same problem, don’t post.

Use the preview facility, thoroughly, think about how what you’ve said may be interpreted. If there’s a way it might appear rude or dismissive, or in any other way unhelful edit it!

I’m not a mod, and have no vested interest in how this site operates, but if I was a brand new user currently I’d be wondering “what’s going on?”

It should be about Fridge Freezers, not personalities, not meanness, 🙂 .

    Pete

Edit: …unfortunate typo in the word ‘unhelpful’ just before the words ‘edit it’, tee hee!

It very rarely happens to be honest Pete and, when it does it usually doesn’t get out of hand. The problem comes when the mods, or admin, have to decide at what point it has over-stepped the mark and drifted too far.

I think I know what thread/s that you are referring to and in all honesty we’re damned if we do lock them down, damned if we don’t. It’s simply not a situation you can win, we get accused of curbing someone’s posts for locking or removing them or we get slammed for letting it ride.

It’s just not simple I’m afraid and it comes down to best guess with the application of a little common sense. We just have to accept that old adage, “you can’t please all the people all the time”.

This is true K, however the individuals responsible should know that certain comments they have posted arent appreciated and stop them once this has been advised by admin and not keep going on about it and sending awful emails to other posters.

Like most users of this site, this behaviour infuriates me, however I feel the best course of action would be just to ignore it and i believe most of the members have enough sense to to this.
