    just wondering what you do if a customer refuses to pay for a repair you have done in house
    i have on occasion taken the parts out again and have a m8 who just yanks out the soap drawer and removes the door until they agree to pay him
    i just wondered where we stand on this
    also why do customers think they can haggle over a set repair price which is agreed before work is started and why do i hear the words
    “OH that didnt take very long”
    i mean gosd what do they want if i empty a filter on a htp or hoover machine and charge them for it it only takes 5 mins what do they want me to do
    clean the machine make chit chat prat about make up more faults 👿

    I certainly wouldn’t advise you follow your mates example, that is stealing and totally against the law and just plain bad business tactics. 👿

    This subject has been discussed on many occasions and if you ‘search’ the “Legal Forum” you will find all the answers you need. 😉

    Do remember, your customer has a right to complain if they feel they have been overcharged, the trick is knowing a polite and pleasant way of dealing with it! Explaining to your customer as to what your charges are before you undertake any work, is the best and often only way of overcoming these problems 🙂

    i always enter a house and i charge ten pound to explain what is wrong how i will repair and how long roughly it will take if they then say go ahead the ten pound is scrapped they are aware that they have to pay but on occasion i get things like i have no money come back next week or you said ten mins that took 5 in those cases i remover said brushes parts pumps motors etc and leave usually customer agrees to pay as i begin to remove part
    my m8 has always done the soap box routine and door as it is easier than undoing the repair
    i would not do it for what you said theft and also my reputation
    but you say this info is all in the legal forum so i think i will have a look in there some time this evening
    as i have always said i love to be armed with all the relevant info i love to go in house with a folder full of tech info error codes wiring diagrams leaflets covering smelly machines and why coins should not be left in pockets i do my job properly and to the best of my ability and just expect to get paid for a job well done
    but as always the vast majority of customers are happy with our service it is only the tiuny minority who just really tick me off 😈

    Always works 😀

    I find with most people, if you find the fault, then agree a price before you repair the machine, these problems can be avoided.

    i work in blackpool and there are some areas that suffer from such poverty they do it intentenially i think
    and one estate you are lucky to get away at all
    in fact last weekend i had my tool box and electric driver stolen from my locked van although it is a typical ford escort so lock dont work its mr padlock lol
    just busy this week replacing everything only to get on a job and think oops i am without my pick plyers etc

    How right your are, steer clear of “poverty” areas is my advice 😉

    In my patch there is ‘Diddycoyville’….’Allahville’ and ‘ASBOville’….all of which for me are no-go areas!

    Make poverty history – don’t go there :lesson:

    P.s If your mate that nicks the dispenser drawers tried that trick down here he would never sleep at night lest 2 gallons of petrol are poured through his letterbox!!!!!?????****!!!!

    I use to work for a firm yonks ago they rented TV’s out, and when a customer was behind with the rent,and refused to correspond to any of our letters, one old guy that worked for us would go round on an evening and stick a pin through the coax cable on the outside wall.Next day we would get a call saying “we carn’t get a picture”. Engineer would turn up make some excuse that he had to take the set away for workshop repairs.
    Then we don’t take it back unless they cough up , oh then we do em for new coax an’all.This was mostly in places called Benefits Close etc…
    nowt to do with washers but a good story,I hope you agree,we aren’t the only engineers to get this kind of hassle from tight customers. Cheers Chris…

    this could be good folks keep em coming what have you done to coax payment from a tightarse
    what have they said not to pay
    have you heard about the grandad in somewhereelseville
    that just died and therefore means they cant pay
    or the one about sorry aint got no cash aint been to the machine
    or my classic one (our company rent machines 5 quid a week)

    aint got no money this week
    says mr bottle of cider 20 pack of lager car outside fag in hand and sky dig on tv nike clothes baseball cap and all the “bling”

    Heaven forbid,paying TV rental,got me beer money to fink about,plus ‘r’ Wayne needs some dosh to pay ‘is fine an all that!!! 😛
    Heard em all,from “me dog ate me Giro” to “i’ve washed me wallet”,& even “i need it cos i’m off on me ‘olly days”.
    Don’t ya just love [hate] em!!!!! :rolls:

    I may be wrong but Im sure once you have fitted a part it becomes their property and removing it (whether they have paid for it or not) is theft.
    Sounds about right for our whacky tits up law :rolls:

    have not heard that b4 gegsy i would assume that it was part of a deal i supply goods and service they supply cash without payment surely i can take out the parts that i paid for and fitted although with this country it may be right
    does anyone know for sure?

    That is correct! If you fit spare parts to someones machine in someones property it automatically becomes their property whether they’ve paid for it or not! 😯

    All goods and services remain the property of the company until paid for.

    Or words to that effect are standard practice and you’ll see them on most invoices from suppliers etc. It allows you to reclaim goods that are not paid for, although how practical that often is is an entirely different story.
