KeymasterWhite Westinghouse cooker, model number 05-203105.
I have moved into a flat with a White Westinghouse cooker, with no programmer knobs. The timer works but I have had to use paper clips to set the time so the oven will work. It takes a long time to do this with the paper clips and is a bit hit and miss.
I ordered programmer knobs from Caremark and they supplied two sets of knobs, a long programmer knob and a short programmer knob.
They are sure one of these will be the correct knobs but I don’t have anything to compare them to.
The long knob looks to be the right length. However, the knobs won’t fit through the holes on the green transparent plastic fascia that protects the timer. This green plastic has been damaged by heat in one part but not around the holes.
Even if the knob had fitted through the hole I’m not sure how it should have been held in the hole, too much space to move and the knob could come out, too tight and the knob would not spring back when the button is pushed to make contact (via rubber button mat) with the circuit board on the timer.
➡ What spring mechanism should be there, and can anybody point me to where i can find a cheap replacement spare for what I need, even second hand spares.
I need to do something quickly, I’m afraid I might forget how to put all this back together.Hope you can help.

Hi Barry.
First of all check that the knobs are correct, as this oven is made by Smeg, the part number should be 764972160.
The spring mechanism you mention is built in to the timer unit itself, which to be honest is what the problem sounds like, heat has distorted the plastic moulding of the timer unit, if this turns out to be the case, the timer is £133.04 plus VAT.
It may be worthwhile considering calling an engineer to verify this of course.

KeymasterOne of my customers had the same issue very recently and requires a new clock. 🙁
She had left the door open for ages whilst grilling. 😕
