ParticipantHi all,
I’ve just found you guys whilst trying to search for a solution to my problem. I have a Proline TDC6a dryer – Which I think is the same machine as the Hotpoint TDC32s.
I’m trying to sort out a non heat issue on my machine. I’ve swapped out the the thermostats (x3) and fitted a new heating element. I don’t seem to be getting power to the stats/element, so I’m now replacing the timer as I assume it’s only that left to be faulty. The thing is, the old timer was a brown one with all the pins labelled “A” “B” & “C” , that is now discontinued and the new one is a white (Invensys EC4915) which just has all the pins numbered 1~10 in 2 rows. So I can’t simply swap them over.
Now, I know you can’t give diagrams etc. which I fully appreciate, but does anyone know where I may be able to buy one? I just need to see the connections! I’ve looked online and can’t seem to find them. Are they perhaps trade only? I will probably get an engineer out but thought I’d try this one last thing. It’s an old machine so possibly not worth fixing if the cost is too high.
Thanks all
S

Your bigger issue is that Proline was a brand name for Comet and, since they no longer exist, there’s no official support at all.
Someone might know or have old info kicking about but, I wouldn’t be too hopeful. 🙁

What is the full serial number of your dryer? The timer in these changed during 2002 and the earlier timer is obsolete and cannot be converted to the new one.
Also the new timers are usually supplied with a conversion chart?

When you say you have swapped out the stats (x3) do you mean you have swapped them 3 times or swapped all three stats including the one hidden in the door surround?

Hiya,
Sorry, yes I’ve swapped the two at the back and the one hidden in the door. I’ll get the serial number when I get home. I bought the timer from ebay so no chart. It was £6 so I thought it was worth trying. The part itself is guaranteed. Interesting about not being able to swap them – all of the online suppliers suggest that the new part replaces the old one…. unless there was another one between mine and the new model of course. I’ll see if there is a serial on the old part – I may get lucky and find one.
Thanks for the replies.

Serial number of the machine, not the part, it should be inside the door or on the back.
£6.00 sounds a bit iffy, list price new is £77.47.

Sorry, yes, I meant the machine 🙂 But will search for the old timer by serial number too.
£6 was for a used part – someone was breaking one. I thought for that price I could afford for it not to work. New ones are as you say, about £88.
