ParticipantHas anyone any tips, tricks or special tools to help in changing the door seal on an Ariston A1535?
Is there a way to take the front panel off?
How do I deal with the rear clamp band (C00064547)?
All advice gratefully received.

Some ‘magic tool’ for that band i would think. Some people have adapted pliers for the job. You could find another clamp band that will fit. (Stretch type band or nut and bolt type.)
thats as much as I know.

I may try a cable tie to pull the 2 ends together, as suggested by Niel.
However it would be nice to hear from the manufacturers engineers what tool they would use, and if a special tool, what is the part number.
Best regards,

Throw the band away and use a Zanussi gaiter spring.

I have the special pliers they are normal pliers with 2 locating hooks welded 90 degrees on the ends, they hook into the eyelets and you draw them together and a little twist job done, mind you 1st couple of times is a right pain until you suss it out, unfortunatley they are not available now.

I just use bent nose pliers.
One thing i do thoughis take th back panel off and it allows for the drum to fall further back when you tilt the machine back and gives you a bit more room.
As Johhny says rather than trying to force the band together when the hooks are close swivel the pliers so it lifts one of the hooks.
Oh and a bit of fairy liquid doesnt go amiss either.
Good luck.November 29, 2007 at 10:10 pm #235751bubs

Agree, done last 3:
Seal on without fairy, cable tie band loose, fairy the outside of the seal and slip band on, pull cable tie, press with bent long nose pliers.
I know many are fitting springs instead but there is a very small lip on this tub, it could be pulled off.
Had a puppy completely remove a bosch door seal last week. Good dog!Graeme

Go into your local tool shop and buy a pair of 8 inch pliers with bent forceps. You then need to grind the tips down to the required thickness to enter the eyelets on the rear clampband. Once you have the profile you need to ( gently ) bend the forcep ends very slightly to suit the profile so as they will fit into the space between the inner front panel and the clamp area.
I done exactly this and the pliers cost me £ 18.00 it works everytime and takes the cursing swearing and time out of this paricular task which now becomes easy. I also apply and thin application of fairy liquid to the clamp band to help seat the clamp into the right place.
The Zanussi spring clamp can also be fitted easy if you do not wish to get invloved in refitting the original rear clamp .
Have fun 🙂
