To extend or not ?

Got a slight little problem at the moment, got a customer who asked me to install a new dishwasher ( intergrated ) anyway it turns out that the water suply for the machine is behind a cuboard bearly accessable save being able to operate the little blue lever on the stopcock. The hose fitted was long enough to couple the old machine but the new appliance has a water stop valve fitted and this hose will not reach the stopcock behind the cuboard.

I was thinking of fitting a 3/4 BSP plastic joiner to join the two hoses but I once saw one of those come apart, or a copper 3/4 BSP joiner.

Any thoughts ? last thing I want is a flood !

We have done this before with no problems, we have also seen this in houses which was done years before. maybe a little support on the heavy stop valve to take off any pressure onto the coupling.

i would be tempted to go for the copper always,dont trust that plastic stuff,good kuck 8) 8)

Make sure the ends of the brass coupler doesnt have sharp ridges. Had one cut through the washer on the inlet hose and flood the kitchen.

You can just about get away with using a blue fill hose and a male/male joiner between the two hoses. But to be honest it’s not a great job, access to the electrical inlet/safety valve is somewhat compromised to say the least. 🙁

Better to get a plumber in to run an effective copper extension with a stopcock so the inlet valve can easily be accessed should problems arise or servicing be required. 😉
