I am in need of a new washing machine and need a top loader.

I appreciate there are very few available compared to years ago.

any recommendations? any makes to avoid?

and why are they so unpopular.

all my machines have been top loaders, none has ever gone wrong and all have lasted over 10 years.

    Re: Top Loader

Most modern top loaders are not that much different from a front loader these days. Same thing, different format.

To get a proper top loader now you really need to look at a US one, possibly even sourced from there as I believe that they cannot meet EU energy rules.

    Perhaps a commercial.

The only others I’ve seen are cheap Chinese things…. not good.

the difference is the footprint, and also if for any reason it stops mid cycle you can remove your clothes and empty the machine without flooding the place.

i don’t have room for a front loader and prefer to load/unload standing rather than kneeling on the floor.

I understand that maytag have been taken over by whirlpool. and they seem to be concentrating on commercial machines rather than domestic.

the whirlpool AWE6761 seems like a possibility

    Hi

Whirlpool and the Hotpoint WMTF722H are the only ones in the UK now.

The Whirlpool models have always had a good following and seem pretty reliable as well.

    HTH 🙂
