ModeratorJust had to give the bad news to a customer with a Hotpoint Top loader that needs a power unit.
Are there any decent quality top loaders that will fit in the same floor space as a Hotpoint T/L. This one is in a corner next to the sink with a freezer in front of it. The Whirpool look to be too big and have pathetic spin speeds. The Bosch appears to have the controls on the front which would be no use. I never liked the Hotpoint drum action Top Loader, anything anyone can recommend with a good spin speed and controls on the top , at the back.November 14, 2005 at 4:58 pm #154038Martin

Had a look earlier a pictures of both, it is possible that the controls on the Bosch machine will be just above the height of the freezer. One problem I hadn’t thought of until looking at them is the filter access appears to low down at the front, that would mean moving the freezer to clean it out. The only other alternative is a new kitchen. 😥

This one of mine had a new motor 2 years ago, I wouldn’t want to referee, having to decide who got the end product.
Does anyone know the height of the lower edge of the Bosch top loader control panel?

I’ve got TWO new power units in stock made with the origional METAL gearing (it was the plastic gear that killed the machine !) I will sell them at £150 each if anyone is in need.. Regards Gary (legsthediver)

Speaking from experience, it was the pathetic two pole motor and the bellows seal fixed directly onto the support tube that killed the Hotpoint top loader, long before the plastic gears. 😥
