ParticipantHello.
We’ve been looking for a fridge/freezer for some time now, but due to our tough requirements we havnt had much luck.
What we are looking for is:
70/30 Fridge/Freezer Split
A ‘Meat’ Tray
Fruit and Veg Box
Large Capacity in the door. (we usually have a 6pint of milk sat in there + a milk jug etc)
And a GOOD brand name. The best that we have found is this Bosch. Are Bosch a good solid brand that will last for 8+ years?
For a max of £700 do you think we could do any better that still matches our requirements?
Thanks PeterNovember 16, 2008 at 9:53 am #268660don

Hi Pete
The Bosch you have found is probably going to be the nearest you are going to get with the criteria you have set, as far as storage goes one of the Hotpoints like the FF200P. However the build is not as good as the Bosch and will not last as long.
For a lifespan of eight years plus then there is no contest, it has to be Liebherr refrigeration range everytime, trouble is you are going to have to compromise on the storage arrangements as they just don`t do the large door furniture.

Thanks for the help.
I shall have a look at Liebherr, are they the people that make the Miele fridge/freezers??
We currently have a Zanussi which is fantastic space-wise. We have had a quote to repair it (compressor has gone on fridge compartment) of £200 plus labour so i can see it getting close to £300.
How long do you think that would keep going for if we had it repaired? Its currently 7 years old.

Hi Pete
Liebherr do make some of the Miele machines, which models exactly I am not sure of.
Personally I would not have a repair of that expense completed on a Zanussi appliance of that age, after all seven years is a good age for an appliance which runs 24-7.
