ParticipantHi,
Does anyone know the PE Leak a Tricity AW1200 should kick out? I can’t get hold of Tricity to find out.
Thanks in advance

Something to do with earth leakage?

On our PAT tester when doing a load test it does:
Load – A
Load – KVA
PE Leak – MAIt’s failing the PE Leak saying it’s reached it’s limit although every other test it passes including Earth Bond Test.

sounds a bit like a phase to earth leakage test which some pat testers do instead of a full insulation resistance test at 500v DC.
if it is i think of the top of my head the max figure for a earth leakage test is 3.5mA for a class one appliance.
what is the insulation test results?

I’ve just taken some more readings and they are as Follows:
Insulation Test – 299m ohms – Pass
Earth Bond – 0.00 ohms – Pass
Load/Leak Test – 7.7 a – Fail
1.7kva – Fail
2.10 ma – Fail Limit
I hope someone can shed some light.
Thanks

sounds fine to me.
the fail tests relate to earth leakage tests. This is a “soft” test applied to appliances not designed for insulation resistance tests at 500 v DC.
the IEE “code of practise for in-service inspection and testing of electrical appliances ” states that the following tests should be applied to class I appliances.(1)preliminary inspection
(2)earth continuity test
(3)insulation resistance
(4)functional checks
your machine passes (2) and (3) so as long as it passes a visual inspection and a functional test(ie it works) then it passes.
