ParticipantIt’s an AW870 and slightly long in the tooth but it’s been brilliant so far and i’d hate to get rid of it for such a silly problem. Can anyone advise please?..
1) Is it suppose to fill with cold water only? I don’t know if i’ve done the right thing but once I noticed only cold going in I swapped the inlet pipes around. Now it fills with hot but i’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure about if it’s right like this?
2) If it is supposed to fill with cold water i’m certain the heater/s must be u/s as it does the entire wash with cold water the whole time (the glass window remains cold to the touch) . I know there are serious safety aspects here but assuming the washer is un plugged from the mains i’m guessing a check on the resistance of the heater is a good place to start maybe?
Thanks very much if anyone can help me with this. 🙂

This machine will fill with hot on the the 60c and 90c programmes only. All cool washes start with cold fill only. Given that a typical household hot water supply is about 65c, you should put the hoses back the right way round, as the rinses are cold water only………. Things will shrink and change colour and your Mrs will want a little word with you………
If you choose to test the heater you should get 20-30 ohms across the terminals, and absolutely no earth reading. You will need a Megger for the latter.
Bear in mind that the wash water is below the door glass, so you may not actually notice the heat on it. It is barely blood heat at 40c. You should do the basics first; on this machine ensure that the filter is properly clear – it can have a surprising effect on the quality of the wash.
Plug out and where you can see it, of course.
