I have a strange problem with my Tricity Bendix DH086 Dishwasher. The machine runs through any cycle that is run, fills and drains ok, and washes, but it will not heat the water.

I have replaced the heating element, the double-pole thermostat immediately beneath the heating element, the timer and also the thermostat inside the door panel. I have also cleaned out the area with the ‘blue tubes’, but the machine still does not heat.

If anyone could give me any pointers I would be eternally grateful, as I loathe washing dishes by hand!

Break in the wiring harness adjacent door hinge?

I was really hoping you weren’t going to say that, but I guess it’s the only thing left to try. With the number of times I have tipped this dishwasher on it’s back/side and opened it up (with the plug out…) I’m getting really quick at it!

I’ll get the multimeter out later tonight and report back with details of how I get on. Thanks for the quick reply!

I’ve checked all the wiring between the timer and the heating element, and replaced one where there was no continuity until the wire was wiggled.

The entire circuit that passes through the Double-pole thermostat, water level pressure sensor and heater has also got good connectivity. The water level sensor was tested by disconnecting the air tube and blowing into it gently.

The machine *did* heat briefly for around 2 minutes and then stopped again. 🙁

Keep wiggling those wires then as I bet that’s where the problem lies. Opening and closing the door stretches and strains all wires nearest the door hinges until they break.

Re: Tricity Bendix DH086 Water Heating problem

Thank for the help you’ve given me so far, so here’s a quick update, and a bit more head-scratching… The heating element now works consistently. Sadly it is only for a brief time during the initial wash, but is fine during the drying cycle on the full program. As far as I can tell, there are no wires connected to the wrong terminals on the timer, the original wires all have their terminal number printed on them (although why Tricity Bendix couldn’t make a couple of one-way-fit connection blocks is beyond me).

As the heating element is now proved to work consistently, and the wiring to it is good, is there any other problem that would cause this?
