    Machine stops during wash cycles. Assumed timer was at fault and replaced to no avail. When first tested, the heater appeared not to function. When tested again some weeks later, machine seemed to take ages to heat the water. After about 15-20 minutes with the water pumping round getting hotter and hotter I got worried it might overheat and stopped the machine.
    Could the thermostat have failed, any suggestions as to next move please.

    You could try cleaning the slime/ gunge out of the little blue tubes housed under the dome (screw in top) if you lift out the filter assembly. The lump can be seen under the lower wash arm. Remember how they came out!
