ParticipantHelp! I have got a 22 year old Tricity 37379BLK Integrated Fridge in my garage that acts as a ‘Beer Cooler’. Just recently the ambient temperature in the garage during the day has climbed above 90 degs F.
I have ‘turned the wick’ down to just short of the 0 (zero) but my Fullers “London Pride” Cask Ale is still far too cold at around 37 degrees in there 🙁 (Perfect for storing that foreign gnats pee Lager rubbish) but as any serious, proper beer drinker will know, it must be stored within 52 to 57 degs F to be perfect. 🙂
Got to get it right as the lads are coming round to watch England trounch the Cuckoo Clocks tonight 😯 ………HELP!!!

KeymasterTalk in oC so us young ‘uns can understand please. 😉
It sounds like a stat problem TBH Martin or possibly insulation breakdown given the age of it.

more likely a system fault at that age Martin, the fridge cant get cold enough on the evaporator to turn off the stat so keeps on running, in turn becoming too cold. The ambient will be a problem to your new replacement cooler, this ones probs R12 which was a much better refrigerent than the modern offerings.

KeymasterYou reckon Kev? Most of those old thing’s systems were built like battleships and, IME, if they started to go they wouldn’t cool but I have seen what you’re talking about as well. I would have actually assumed that insulation failure in or around the evap plate was more likely allowing warm air to seep in around the capiliary holding the stat open. One of those “without seeing it things” I guess.
Mind you, 90oF (I couldn’t be bothered to convert it) could mean as hot as the sun as far as I’m aware, you’d understand that malarky better than I. 😉

Martin…. Didn’t you know that the Swiss DID NOT make cuckoo clocks !! 🙄
It was the germans in the black forest region who then moved them and sold them as swiss co’s nobody would buy them… 😈
And here’s me giving history lessons..

Easy guys! 🙄
I only posted it as a bit of a ‘wind-up’ (get it 😆 “Cuckoo clocks an all). Actually the fridge works as best it can under the conditions and I know one cannot seriously expect a domestic fridge to store beer at the correct temp.(Lager yes, beer no)
Took the beer out now and onto the coffee table, warming up in time for the kick off!!
Thanks guys and apologies for my quaint/weird sense of humour 😉
