The temperature of both my ovens in my double oven having lost control and the temperature inexorably rising, I assumed this to be a failed thermostat problem and duly replaced them. However, this has not proved to be the solution.

Though I am certain that I have wired them both correctly, and the bottom oven seems to be fine, if the bottom oven is on then the top oven heats up as well. Furthermore the temperature of this oven still continues to rise.

Was I wrong to assume that the thermostats were at fault? Could it be the cut-outs are the problem? Or can you suggest what else might be the cause.

No temperature control can often be an earth leakage problem. Engineer time……..

    Thanks for your reply Penguin.

Am I to be calling out someone to fix the oven or the cable to the oven?

In other words are you suggesting that earth leakage is from the oven or the connection.

Most likely internal – probably the element (s).

Stay safe if you’re going to investigate further – power off.
