    Hi,
I realise that showers do not really count as white goods, but thought you may be able to give the advice I could do with.

I have a Triton shower that was fitted 7 years ago. Last week I received an email from Triton offering me a replacement Amore or Aspirante shower, fitted by their own team of local experts, and with a new 2 year warranty, for £199.

I use the mixer shower downstairs, so I asked my wife if the electric Triton was working OK or not. She advised it was generally fine and that she didn’t think we needed to spend £200 for no reason.

Are any of you white goods experts able to comment on whether I should be able to rely on my existing shower to continue for a few more years, or whether I should bite Triton’s hand off. The offer is available until the 6th March. According to Anglian Water, our water is “Moderately hard”.

Any advice you can give is much appreciated.
    Cheers

There is nothing on Google search or on the Triton website, we have had Triton showers in the past and have never had this offer. I smell something not quite right her and if it was me I would phone Triton and ask them if this is a true promotion.

I am quite confident it is genuine, it does not smack of a scam at all. The action to take is call a phone number, not click dodgy links.
Googling this phone number (02476 378 330) shows that it is for Tritons UK Customer Service Team and they do indeed even have a Shower Replacement Service – https://www.tritonshowers.co.uk/help-and-support/after-sales/shower-replacement-service.

The email starts with the text:
We’re contacting you because we believe you may have a Aspirante 8.5 Gloss White electric shower.
We do in fact have that exact model, they will know about it as I registered the warranty with them 7 years ago.

Going back to the original question, can anyone advise whether £199 fitted is worth it for a 7 year old shower, or should the original item be expected to give plenty more life?

    Cheers

You should do what any sensible man would do, listen to your wife. Aspirante units are available online for well under £130, replacing one Triton unit with another is an absolute doddle. I have done my own twice in the past 20 odd years.;)

You can buy the Amore unit for £50 from B&Q.

When your current unit eventually fails then replace it, you should be able to do that for well under £200.

    Fair call!

I could only found the Amore for £150, so with fitting, figured it was a fair deal, but if replacement is that easy, I’ll take the chance.
Hopefully the current one will last anyway, but wanted a second opinion or two.

    Thanks

Our last shower ( Wickes 10k made by Triton lasted twice that one). Daughters 8.5 Miami is 12+ and now needs a PRD. Only problem changing shower is IF you uprate without considering the cable size and breaker/fuse.
something I discovered recently is that some showers have an in line filter.

If your current Triton shower is working fine, you can safely continue using it for a few more years. The £199 offer is optional and only provides a new unit with installation and a 2-year warranty; it’s not necessary if your shower shows no signs of problems.
