The element in the bottom fan oven blew and I fitted a new one.

Now I notice that the Temperature light never goes out, even though the oven temp is clearly high enough (presumably this is why the element blew in the first palce)

Has the thermostat stopped working? If so, which one do I need and is it easy to fix (I managed to fix the element ok)

Yes either the thermostat was affected by the element blowing up or it was damaged when replacing the element. (The t/stat phial is easily knocked when removing and refitting the rear plate?)

A new stat is Part No: 489378 and available by emailing these details to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk.

Is the circotherm fan turning correctly?? If it slows or even stops you will get the inefficient heating you are experiencing. This could also be the initial instigator of the element failing.

the fan is turning fine, and i the t/stat file seems pretty solid to me and untouched – so i will try fitting a new t/stat – thanks for your help

btw, why do the fans go so noisy so quickly???!!!

Its the nature of the beast Im afraid. In order to blow air around oven cavity it has to suck air in, this air is usually loaded with grease particles and finds its way down the fan motor shaft and into bearings.
