Craig (engineer) goes into a customer earlier this evening as he was running later than planned, anyway he’s confronted by one of the wastebin dishwashers that Bernstein flogs and gets involved with a conversation with the customer.
Turns out that he has already had a replacement due to the regen chamber leaking (I think, it was a poor line, mobiles eh :roll:) after eighteen months. Now the new one, after eighteen months has decided to follow its predecessor and leak. So naturally the customer assumes that it has to be a design flaw, a reasonable deduction one would assume. But Craig, not having seen too many of these machines, i.e., this one, says to the customer that he’s never seen another do this as any engineer worth their salt would even if it is a blatent lie.
So then the customer says, “oh it’s okay we found this great website and the guys on there will know all about it…”
Guess what…
UK Whitegoods!
Maybe we are getting there but Craig was trying so hard not to fall about laughing. 😉

I was just thinking of all the times when you cant repair an appliance instantly because you need to order the spare and the customer informs you that they are going to report you to watchdog because you did’nt have the spare onboard.
I wonder how long it will be before they threten to report you to UK WHITEGOODS instead.
Then and only then will we know that we’ve arrived. Perhaps we should offer a prize for the first documented report of this happening. LOL

And it happened again this afternoon!
Robert goes into a Smeg customer and she says, “you know there’s a really good website you can get loads of information off on whitegoods…”! She was a bit surprised when she learned that the person that dealt with the call was me and Robert told her I ran this site though. 😉
She was doubly impressed when it turned out that the “local repairer” who had diagnosed a main PCB fault was wrong and all it was was a loose tacho magnet on the motor and saved herself a tidy sum. 😀

No Del there was no threats, she was only trying to steer Robert in the direction of UKW. But two in a couple of weeks or so is phenomenal really especially when the customers are enthusing about the site, so maybe we are having an effect.
I can live with that alone as a prize.
