Customer rings me, desperate to get his washer fixed but no-one is at home when I can call therefore he suggests: –

“If I give you the gate access code and hide the front door key, can you go in and sort it for me. Ring me when you’re there and I will pop home to pay you?”

    What….!!!?

Now if you go onto Google maps, look up Warrenside, Wokingham then click on Streetview to suss his gaff. Then tell me what a prat I think he is for suggesting such a thing…….. :rolls:

I get that sort of thing all the time. Some houses I’ve been in half a dozen times over the years but always had to let myself in. With one holiday home I actually kept the key for about 2 months until they paid an outstanding bill. 😆

I get quite a few got one on Monday.
Often a cup and the coffee is left by the machine, help yourself ! Several have a left a signed cheque for me to fill in.
    Key is nearly always:
    under a brick
    under the dustbin
on a nail/ledge just inside the shed.
    Decent people to work for.

The only problem I can see, apart from your not having much space in the back of your van for his family silver, is that, if he works in the city, he’s going to have to exceed the speed limit by a considerable margin to get back in time to pay you. It seems doubtful that he would be labouring on a neighbouring farm but you never know! It’s a strange world.
Anyway, he’s no doubt heard from Lord George Herbert about how trustworthy you are!
