ParticipantHi all , Washing machine fixed now the tumble dryer got an issue
Indesit IDV65UK is the model. It struggles to get moving when turned on. I’ve just replaced the plastic drum bearings and checked the tear drop bearing which looks ok .
Does the felt liner looks like its wearing out , does that make a difference or jam it up ?Cheers

Silly question, is there a wrong and a right side for the tabs . ie for the black and red to connect too?

KeymasterNo, you can connect a start cap either way, makes no odds really but there’s usually wiring on them.

ParticipantI had something similar with my dryer last winter, and it ended up being the start capacitor—it was cheap to swap and sorted it right out.

Mine was stalling over a year ago, the start/run capacitor was down a fair bit when I measured it and could do with replacing, but I noticed the folded bits of steel that the drum rim slots into and the pads are mounted on, were packed solid with lint fluff, scrapped that out with a little screwdriver and it’s been running fine since. I’m intending to replace it with a heat pump, so I didn’t bother order a new cap.

Participant“I’m intending to replace it with a heat pump” Well we all make mistakes and buying a heatpump tumble dryer is usually a major mistake.
Points on capacitors. Those cheap Chinese caps are famed for not working for very long so be warned. If you can get a cheap one buy it only to prove a point (unless you`re dead sure) that it was a duff cap then buy a decent european make.August 13, 2025 at 6:10 am #491911Ashok Kumar Sinha
