KeymasterInteresting thing tumbleweed is. It’s a plant that survives by growing in one place and then moving about and spreading seeds as it rolls around the desert. Always found it fascinating stuff really.
It’s an invasive weed.
And yet we still say things like, “Jesus, just look at the tumbleweed blow by…” to indicate nothing happening.
In case you hadn’t sussed I’ve been pi$$ed off the past few days and I looked at this forum and thought, “Jesus, just look at the tumbleweed blow by…”
Then I saw the topic reply for the BG thread and though, “oh good something to get my teeth into” only to met by abject, “WTF”. I mean I sympathise with the poor buggers emplyed by BG for being shafted but really, is this my problem? Not really, no.
My problem with BG and the likes is the fact that the b4st4rds have stolen my business! That really does irk me.
The other day I got even more pi$$ed when I got a call through from MFI for a gas oven. Nothing unusual there I hear you cry but wait for the rant, it’s building…
It was on a BG policy and the only reason we got it is because those muppets couldn’t fix it. After several attempts and they’ve probably wrecked the damn thing.
So, 2 million or so customers out the loop and, what do we do? Whinge a bit, moan a bit and support the workers cause? Hell, we should be egging them on, go on strike, whoopee! If I get paid to pick up the pieces at a handsome rate I could care less, it’s BG’s money after all and it’s not like they can’t afford it.
Then there’s the whole thing about the monthly policies, people complain about BG but don’t bother with the tools to combat it. I mean, what do I have to do?
I sell them on the phone before we even go to a customer. Works a lot better than asking engineers to do it for you, I encourage the customers to ask the engineer about it as that makes it less awkward for him, it’s a lot easier to introduce the idea when you ask “have you got insurance cover” and it’s not a hard sell.
Like the tumbleweed, I will thrive on what I can pick up along the way and, if a few seeds make it I’ll be happy. And, I hope tomorrow is a better day than the one I had today. 😕

Martin tried to get things rolling with BG a couple of years back with the posting from Blue Flame. Looked good and hopefully we could have pulled a few other disillusioned BG customers out of the woodwork.
What happened, went off onto a tangent and got diluted with Dross, and in no time at all sunk deep into history.
Always the same, see something on here and think, “Brilliant this is what we want”, and then it drowns in tittle tattle. Take something that isn’t even worth debate and it rolls for weeks.
That’s life

True enough it did, and that is always the likely case during open debate. A mix of fact and fancy for the most part and could also be construde by BG as slanderous unless carefully moderated, which, thank heaven has been avoided. 😉
More hard facts and greater public input would be good and perhaps we can encourage our customers that have been ‘bitten by BG’ to participate as I did with Blueflame those many moons ago? 😉

So the tumbleweed is still blowing by…….
Don’t we have a trade association to try and found in a fortnights time?

We do indeed Chris and I’ve got a few bits and pieces together for Sibson as well as many that I’m working on.
