ModeratorHi Lads
Well, with the inaurguration (dont know if i spelt that right) of the WTA we have been asked to adudicate for both organisation. Personally I don’t have a problem with this but I have to pose the question of, might there be any conflicts of interest between the two. I can’t envisulise any but you guys might. so fire away. One thing did worry me though and that was that It has been requested that a member of the WTA council requested access to this forum. As you know we deal with the sensitive matters of complaints agaiunst members and thier identities which I know that you guys hold with the utmost integrity and disgression. This does concern me as i dont know all the councillors of the WTA as well as I know you guys.
Thoughts please

SeanIn my case a flat NO. As I haven’t got access to the council forum, therefore I personally could not agree to councillors having access to this forum.
Sounds a bit like the West Lothian Question, but nonetheless very appropriate.

Did I pick it up wrong at the meeting, I thought that the AC’s remit was only changed by the fact that we would be overseeing WTA members who are members of repairs@ I cannot think of any reason why we would be overseeing the WTA as a whole?
As far as WTA council members getting access to the AC forum I cannot see any reason why they would need this. I like Alex am not a member of the WTA council and don’t have access to their forum and rightly so.

KeymasterI’m thinking about it but haven’t arrived at a conclusion yet that I’m happy with as yet.
I have the outline of a rough idea though on the best way to work it, I just need a little time to refine it.

Just noticed the header on the front page for the WTA constitution thread and wonder if the WTA is going to appear to be like the DASA Officers forum in that no member knows what is going on…
I am all for there being a seperate forum for the council to sort out strategy etc but surely posts regarding the constitution and ID cards should be in the general WTA forum for all to comment upon.

There’s no big secret.
Basically they’re trying to figure it all out ATM before presenting what they think to the rest, it’s just easier to hone something in a smaller group before you open it up.
Personally I don’t see an issue with it, but I can see how it could be annoying.

In all faifness John didn’t we do a similar thing in the A.C. with regards the Charter !
Once we have got it past a rough draft stage and ironed out any obvious omissions or errors we can then post it up for the members to coment on before it is ratified. I see no real problem with this.
You also have the appathy to deal with, that most members of any organisation seem to show on such matters. Far better to get the guys that actually show some interest involved at the early stages.
Nothing is set in stone.Sean

Not quite the same Sean, When we did the charter it was a forum that was started with a sheet that was practicaly blank, a lot of the WTA matters were brought up in the subscribers forum and are now not available for them to comment on.
I can see both points here and am thinking of the negative comments before re the DASA officers forum, where no one but them knew what the SP was. I just thought it would help if a council member gave an update to let the footsoldiers know what was going on in the WTA forum ( and in the general trade forum ), no need to give it all out though.

Gut feeling tells me…
That what the AC does has to remain confidential in large part, I don’t think that there’s much debate on that point as people’s businesses may well be discussed.
Much of what the “Council” (God I hate that term) does can and should become a matter of “public” record and be visible to all the members. So, last night, I moved across the Constitution thread. The reason is that, so far as the council is concerned, they’re done with it and it’s now up to the members to offer any further comment that they like to the conversation.
I thought about it and, so far as I can see, this is the best way to do it that allows the processes to be open and accountable.
It’s also a damn sight more than DASA ever did. 😉
