Hi, I recently replaced the cooling fan in my AEG built in double oven with this replacement part – UN1459 – Oven & Cooker Cooling Fan Motor (supplied from here)

Anyway the Mrs arrives home the other day, house full of smoke, no electricity (Tripped).

Turns out something had burned through the top of the oven housing and proceeded to burn through the wooden carcass of the kitchen unit, hence the smoke. Is there a plastic vent on the top cover of the oven??

The oven was switched off at the time of the incident but had been on just before she went out.

Anyone able to offer any explanation as to what may of happened? I,m away from home so am unable to offer much more detail, sorry.

    Thanks in advance.

Quick question – when you say that the oven was switched off do you mean at the mains switch or just the oven. Yes there is a vent at rear/top to disperse any moisture from food.

Sorry, just the oven was off. She tells me the plastic vent cover is completely destroyed, because i changed the fan i know it is located roughly below the area of the vent.
