Participantjust wondered if anyone can tell me why some posts don’t get any replies. Is it just certain types of questions are difficult to answer.
many thanks.

Moderatorwe try to give help where possible but in this game you are the sum of your experience so some faults we have not seen ourselves or are so vague that it makes it difficult to diagnose
if your talking about your tripping problem its hard to diagnose tripping problems as we know its a component with an earth problem. Finding which one is another problem all togetherDave

ParticipantThanks Dave for replying. It is the problem with the freezer tripping that I was referring to.
We know it’s when it’s trying to start the compressor up again that it trips. We hoped that someone could suggest what components could be at fault. So that we could obtain spare parts.
We appreciate its a difficult question but any advice would be greatfully received.

Moderatorall we know at the moment is the unit has an earth fault somewhere. to find it means disconnecting various components and measuring insulation resistance. or could it be water getting on an electrical connection, bad connection in a socket. The list goes on
its such a minefield you will probably find one engineer who had a compressor causing it while another found it was a faulty defrost heater. so you see there is no simple answer. From an engineers point of view I would measure earth leakage at the plug and if it was low start unplugging things to trace the faulty componentDave

ParticipantThank you for taking the time to reply.
It seems it might be to difficult a job for an inexperienced person to tackle this repair.
Because it trips at the same point each time during the cycle we thought that it would be easy to detect the problem but perhaps not.
Many thanks for explaining.January 26, 2019 at 6:40 pm #460202lerch
ParticipantWhat individual parts have you metered up to now?

ParticipantWe’ve not tested any parts because we were unsure where to start and would only be able to tackle something fairly simple
We were trying narrow down the components that could be faulty in the hope that we could obtain spare parts to fit by ourselves
