How does this work on modern machines? Some old Hoover Logics had a microswitch on the back of the drum which I always assumed was there to shut off the motor if vibration got too bad. I went to a Zanussi F1003W today, symptoms: only doing a few short bursts of high speed spinning when on long spin. I checked the tacho coil / magnet and tried a spin with the pressure switch pipe disconnected. I wondered if the system for detecting load imbalance could be faulty? It is completing the long spin in about 2 minutes.
unbalanced load control is a combination of the load within the drum causing fluctuating power load across the motor with the corresponding tacho pulses. The electronics sorts this out by aborting spin cycle, although on some you can’t see this as the programme finishes as normal without fault indication.
The zanussi stores the last fault code and TDS will tell you how to access the codes and understand the result.
