ParticipantLots of questions and thoughts but I’ll start with this one.
I have an undercounter single oven.
I want to replace it with a double.
Height from cement floor to undercounter is 92cms.
Are built in and built under ovens interchangeable?
ThanksFebruary 15, 2022 at 1:40 pm #481099don
ModeratorYou either replace it like for like with a single or you can install a built under double oven they are designed to fit under worktop and are 72cm tall. If you try and install a built in double 89.5cm tall under the worktop not only will the bottom oven door not open properly but you will also invalidate the guarantee as these are designed to fit waist heuight and up.
Also bear in mind with a built under double you will for most need a carcass either side for the sliders to fit onto. Failing this the Hotpoint ones have adjustable legs on them, either way you will need to trim or replace the kick plinth as well.

ParticipantThanks Don.
The undercounter single oven that I have is old and silly small.
If I replace it with a double oven, I will have two silly small cavities.
Is there a single oven that is the size of a double oven?
ThanksFebruary 15, 2022 at 2:22 pm #481101electrofix
Moderatoryou have to think you are constrained by size by building under
you cant take the oven down to the floor and you need room at the top for controlsyou can get ovens with smaller top oven cavity like hotpoint DU2540WH
apart from that its 2 smaller ovens

I have seen and supplied in the past two single ovens side by side.

ParticipantDon, you must be clairvoyant! Just talking to a supplier about that very model. And it is on legs so I presume it just slots in the same as fridge, tumbledryer etc. so I won’t need a carpenter to fit it, just an electrician.
I live in a humble ex council semi so no chance of two ovens side by side. I’ll just have chop the Christmas turkey in half. Handy really cos everyone’s turning veggie.February 15, 2022 at 3:32 pm #481104Zaffy
