We have an american style Siemans fridge freezer and have just checked the temperature and in the fridge it is 4 degree C at the top and -5 degrees in the bottom draw.
    Any ideas?

    thanks

I’m not familiar at all with the Siemens ones but I’d suspect something to do with the airflow in the machine, possible a faulty air diverter flap/valve.

Thanks very much. If it is this, is it something that is relatively easy to fix?

First thing would to carry out a full manual defrost – switch off the appliance , doors open for 36 – 48hrs then restart it. There may be a build up of ice on the diverter flap stopping it from closing and allowing cold air to enter the fridge for too long. By completely defrosting , you can then eliminate the ice build up.

Are the contents of the veg drawers freezing up in the fridge ?

All the veg in the bottom of the three drawers was frozen.

Yup, sounds like the diverter is stuck.

Defrosting it is a good first option and cost free, bar the pain and hassle of no fridge for a day or so.

Great, thanks for the advice. We’ll try a defrost and see how that goes.

    Thanks again
