I have an old Scandinova upright freezer – model # UF97S – which works well enough but frosts up a lot, because I think the door seal is kaput. It won’t hold a sheet of paper at any point around the seal.

Scandinova are no longer trading it seems and spares aren’t available. The general consensus is that universal door seals aren’t much cop, so what can be done in this situation? It seems ludicrous to have to junk an appliance for want of a new seal?

As an aside, who were Scandinova? Was it a Comet own brand or something of that ilk?

    Definitely not worth the hassle.

the plastic has probably hardened with age. you could try defrosting it and warming the seal with a hair dryer to see if while the plastic is soft it will re seat

if no then universal seals may be an option but you have to find the correct profile and fit

if no to above then you need a new freezer as the one you have will be less energy efficient due to age and faulty seal
