We have been out after another company as the customer got a nasty shock after an element was fitted, apparently the engineer was messing around behind the appliance for quite some time,

Earth not connected and a wood screw bodged into the earth connection as they had obviously broken the screw on the terminal block, we all like 1st call completions and going back for a £5.00 part is annoying but you cant leave a customer unsafe, there is no way this cooker was tested for electrical safety after the repair was done.

I know the company that the engineer who did this works for and he isn’t the only poor engineer they have on their books,
It brings it back to the age old conversation regarding regulating this industry, as there is no one to report these guys to they will just carry on being dangerous, anyone with a screwdriver and access to you tube can call themselves an appliance engineer 😡

    (steps down off his soapbox)

Quite right. I keep various terminal blocks in my van. I change loads. No point bodging them when they’re so cheap.i see many which are so badly installed they melt beyond recognition. I hate youtube. I’ve seen so many bodges, even people joining mans cable to it with button connectors , even twisted together and wrapped in tape.
