    Hi Sharon,

What size freezer are you looking to buy and what sort of price range are you looking at ?

As a general rule, the more you pay the better you will get, not always true, but pretty much the case.

    Dave.

    Wow .. quick reply! Thanks.

I need a full height (about 5 feet), normal width one, please, with drawers rather than shelves. Nothing else fancy.

    Thanks

My personal preference would be Bosch in that range, have a look at the link below for the models available.

Fantastic, thank you. I have 3 other Bosch whitegoods so am delighted to hear that it rates for freezers too. Will look at the options in the Bosch range.
(I’ve just discovered this site, and it is great!! Well done.)

Too much emphasis is put on efficency rating on refrigeration. Refrigeration is a very efficient heat pump and produces about three or four times as much heat energy as the power consumed.

During the heating season, the heat produced by refrigeration adds to the background heat in the home and reduces the fuel consumed by the heating system. The heating season, of course, lengthens as you move Northwards. In our area it about eight months long !

Last summer I installed an air conditioner/heat pump and our comfort level last winter was the best it has ever been. It was still producing a usefull amount of heat while th outside temperature was below Zero.C

Of course the above only applies if the refrigeration is within the house and not in the garage.

Thanks, but ours is in the garage!

Has anyone any comments on the SCANDINOVA make of freezers please?
(The husband saw them in Comet, and is impressed with the price!)

No comment as in I don’t want to get sued, or no comment as in no opinion? 😆 I assume the former?

Reliability on a scale of 1 low to 10 high? (with Bosch at 9ish)
I need specifics to persuade hubby.

Both really. I can’t comment on Scandinova as it is not an actual make as it were.

They are imported and badged “Scandinova” which is the Comet brand name, so it’s impossible to tell what they actually are untill they go wrong and then we get to see them.
