ParticipantWe’re looking for an upright freezer with plastic coated wire drawers as we’ve never been happy with the plastic drawers in our current one.
12 – 16 cu ft. Good quality . Min A++ energy efficiency. External finish is not important as it will be out of view
Any suggestions welcomed
Thanks
Harry

My wife !
To be more serious, I’m talking about plastic coated wire drawers, just like most freezers used to have
My problem with plastic drawers is our freezers are normally full to the brim. This means the drawers are carrying a lot of weight (OK, maybe more than they are designed for, but this is real life). After a few years the drawers, and in particular the front section that you pull on, get brittle and crack.
Wire drawers don’t have this problem
Any suggestions ?

Ah but they do have the same issue as the fronts are still the same thing pretty much.
That aside these sorts of parts are range if not model specific and so you can’t usually interchange them from one to another or, it’s total guesswork to do so. Different shapes and sizes, even slightly, make what you’re asking for nigh on impossible I expect.

Just to be clear, I’m looking for a complete freezer with wire baskets, not replacement baskets for an existing freezerNovember 19, 2014 at 2:40 pm #421733Martin

A modern freezer will fail and be scrap material long long before the wire baskets wear out!

Hi
Buy a decent quality product like a Hotpoint or Bosch. Purchase bigger than you currently have to ensure sufficient capacity. Please don’t ram it so full which causes the plastics to break. If storing large items go for a machine which has a big bucket or two.
Tell your wife to curb her spending on frozen food that way the freezer will last longer and you end up with more pounds in your pocket 😆
HTH 😀
