ParticipantI’m hoping someone can help me urgently!
I’ve just moved to a new house with an Ariston TC720 built-in double oven. I was cleaning it tonight and removed the inner glass panel of the main oven and it shattered. Trouble is, I’ve got 10 people coming to me for Christmas dinner.
From panic research on the internet I see that the model is obsolete. Does anyone know if another other model has a similar glass panel that can be used?
Or in the worst case scenario, can the oven still be used without the inner glass panel? I can’t cancel everyone for Christmas! Please help!
PS. Just in case it makes a difference, I live in Belfast.

Hi Carlie,
The chances of getting one for Xmas is, at best, extremely doubtful I’m afraid even if someone happens to have one. 🙁
If the part is truly obsolete then, again, the chances are slim at best.
You could use the oven, but it’s certainly not advised and I cannot advise that you do so. But if you do, ensure that you build the temperature up slowly, ramp it in stages to allow the temperature of the panel remaining to equalise as best as possible and don’t stress it with high temps. However, as I say, it’s not advised and avoid at all costs.

Thanks for your reply K – you must be a night bird as well!
I’m going to try ringing the Ariston service people in the morning to see if they have a local parts supplier, or try the people who sold us the house to see where they got the kitchen/cooker from and see if they can help. I suppose I was hoping I could walk into a store and buy a replacement glass door panel from somewhere!
I appreciate that you don’t recommend using the cooker without the glass panel but I simply can’t cancel Xmas dinner. I was thinking maybe that I could use the panel from the top oven in the bottom oven, even thought its not as deep surely it would offer some protection and be better than nothing.
Or should I bite the bullet and go buy a new cooker tomorrow?

Actually, scratch that! There’s no way on earth I can afford a new cooker until after Christmas 🙁
So given the financial pickle I’m in, and the hungry masses descending towards my house literally as I write, is there any hope for me at all?

Mr Conway might be able to get something suitable from Connect. They are showing stock of 5031680303087, which should fit. However, you have zero chance of delivery for Christmas. Sorry.
eMail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for confirmation, prices etc.

ParticipantThanks for that Penguin, I’ll email anyway as I’ll be needing a replacement regardless of the festive season.
Have you any practical suggestions as to whether the cooker can be used without the interior glass panel for the 5 hours or so for cooking the turkey?

Hi Carlie,
Ken has given the basics – keep the temperature down, extend your cooking time, thermal losses will be high as the oven is not sealed properly. All in all, it’s a bad plan…… Bear in mind that the outer glass is not meant to handle oven temperatures directly.Send turkey round to Mum’s? We’re having lamb, which will fit in the top oven if ours goes pearshaped……………………..
Hope you have a good day regardless,

Might have to send the turkey out for cooking though I hate to admit defeat at my first proper attempt of providing the Xmas meal!
Thanks to both you and Ken for your prompt replies. Hope you both have good hols.

It gets more complicated than that 🙁
This oven is manufactured by Stoves and the model number is actually TC720SS.
Stoves have modified the doors and there are two different inner glasses but both still available 😀
I have the email and will reply to that with further information.
Dave.

Meanwhile DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use the oven in that state. It cannot be used without the correct glass in place AT ALL!!! 😥
Merry Christmas! 🙂
