USA Style Fridge Freezer

I have about £800 to spend and have seen two models I like the look of.
Samsung RS21DCNS and LG GRP207QUJ. Are either of these models any good and reliable ?

Dare I say it, Maytag IME. Many decent brands you see will be re-badged Maytag machines, like Smeg, De Dietrich etc.

Whirlpool’s aren’t too bad either bar the little irk on occasion with the IR boards. But they’re a lot cheaper than a Maytag.

The GE ones seem not too bad as well, but a bit awkward for repairs.

Okay when they are working, not some of the best I`m afraid.

With that sort of budget I would go for seperate machines and get better quality of machine and a better back up.

I would go for either the Bosch KSR34425 fridge and the KSR34465 freezer. They stand 180cm high and 60cm wide. Superb quality with a two year guarantee. You can even reverse the door hanging for that side by side look and add the vertical trim as an optional extra, for the same look.

Or as an alternative the Hotpoint RLA84 fridge and the FZA84 freezer same sort of sizes but Hotpoint produce these in a nice Graphite colour. Door reversal too.

Otherwise if its a pure American machine then the Maytag or the Whirlpool machines but they are more expensive.

Thanks very much guys. Really helpful advice. Hadn’t thought of 2 seperates side by side. Seems these water/ice dispenser models are poor unless you pay big money.

If I don’t want to buy separates or a USA style side by side and settle for a normal fridge freezer with a fairly large capacity, are there any models which are very reliable and reasonably priced ?

Hi Paul

Have a look at the Bosch KGV34325GB or the Hotpoint RFA18. Both are large capacity family machines, offering well laid out interiors and without you having to pay the earth.
