Useful tip… Fat in drain pipe

Thought I would share this tip with everyone.

:lesson:

To get solidified fat out of a drain pipe on a dishwasher or washing machine:

Cut both ends off a standard fill hose. Disconnect the blocked drain hose from sink trap and push the prepared fill hose slowly into the appliance drain hose with a twisting action.

Push it as far as it will go and it will go over the top of the fat. Then, with a thumb over the free end of the fill hose, pull it out to extract all the fat in one go. :tup:

This is particularly useful on built in appliances and can save you hours!

Or set the appliance draining, place your thumb over the end of the drain hose vigourosly pull the drain hose back and forth stretching it slightly and shake the hose as well .
When you feel a build up of pressure behind your thumb let it go lay it a bowl and voila a stinking mess but a drain hose cleared .

As Lawrence, but I pour some boiling water into tube and stretch the pipe at the same time.

I wonder myself how I find the time. Now to add to my schedule the F1 season has started.

Golf is at a mere 18 holes a week at present, too cold to go at 1st light these last 2 weeks.

one of the best moves i ever made was to buy a powerful aquavac. its perfect for draining down washers etc. also the scummy water in dishwashers and definatelty for getting hair balls and grease out of pipes.
on a busy day i’ll bet it saves me at least an hour and a half.
if you haven’t got one then get one you’ll never look back.
