ParticipantHi,
First post and I’m looking for help!!I’ve got a Diplomat ACA3200 and have just replaced the oven element as it was not working but I now notice the cooling fan isn’t working!!! I don’t know if its something I’ve done (everything else works) all connections seem secure.
But is the oven safe to use without the cooling fan working?
Thanks!!

Its not dangerous but the element is likely to fail very quickly and the cooking performance will be useless.
You may have disturbed the wiring to the fan or it could already have been faulty.

Thanks for the reply.
I thought the cooling fan was more for cooling down the externals and oven door than for cooking performance? I know there is a fan which blows the hot air around the oven internals which is working, though I must admit I don’t really know anything about ovens!!
Thanks again.

Ahh, misread your first post. The cooling fan is to keep the controls etc from overheating, not wise to use the oven without it working.

I’m a bit cheesed off as a new fan is going to cost again and after shelling out for a new element I wonder if its worth it?
Thanks

When you say its not working be aware these are switched on only when temp’ in cavity rises & will stay on until temp’ in cavity drops below a predetermined setpoint. Thermal device is usually in circuit to switch on & off. It will be dangerous to operate the oven without the cooling fan running as designed & could be a fire risk.
So no its not safe to use oven without cooling fan!May 29, 2010 at 9:21 am #321300bblade

So no its not safe to use oven without cooling fan! Thanks for this, its pretty much what I thought but I appreciate the confirmation. I haven’t used the oven since.
I’m wondering now at what point its uneconimical to repair as a new fan (especially after just buying a new element) is not cheap.
Thanks again.

Fixed, it wasn’t the fan but the thermistor that had failed. I bridged it to check…………still expensive (I thought) to replace but done now.
Thanks for all replies!!!
