ParticipantOur AEG Lavamat 72600 has died – no power to it at all for some reason.
Anyway, landlord is replacing it with choice of these two Mieles
W3204
or
W1613
Any pluses or minuses for each?
Dont’ need the big door of the W1613 and note the W3204 has the honeycomb drum.
Which would you choose and why?
I’ve got an hour to get back to him! (4.30 SAT)
Sorry for short notice.
Thanks for any advice
David

I can’t give guidance to which miele to choose but if your old machine has no power at all do check that a spur hasn’t been accidently turned off and or there is power to the socket that supplies the machine.

Hi
If it`s not to late the 3204 would be my choice. Slighty higher spec, efficiency and of course the honeycomb drum.
HTH 🙂

and as you have a landlord thats that nice they’ll replace it just like that (i wish my landlords custom were that decisive), hide the old aeg and see if it can be fixed cheaply and flog it or store it for when you buy your own property 😀

Thanks for the advice, I’ve emailed the landlord and said we’d prefer the 3204, but if its down to cost I imagine we’ll end up with whichever is cheapest…
Previously they (the landlords) had the AEG covered with British Gas and it had to be repaired at least twice – on both ocasions British Gas were next to useless and took about four or five attempts before getting the correct part replaced. They then cancelled that cover and got it covered by Domgen, they since let that lapse and decided not to bother having cover at all, and in the event it breaks down, they’ll replace it. : ) Just could have done with it not happening days before Christmas! Still the new one arrives Christmas eve…
They were in two minds to get a cheap one and replace it every couple of years as they break down, or spend more on a more reliable miele and get a 5yr warranty.
As for keeping the old AEG and getting it fixed, whoever is bringing the new machine is taking the old one with them so that’s not an option.
Cheers,
David

Landlord just rang and they’ve now order a “Miele 3000 Distinction” whatever that is?
Turns out they were being messed about with the original supplier so have spoken to Comet and ordered the above.
Due to arrive Tuesday.
Anyone know is this a Comet only version as I can’t find out anything about it on the Miele site other than the handbook?
http://www.miele.co.uk/washing-machines/manuals/
Spotted something somewhere that suggested it might also go by the model number “W3242″…?
