ParticipantI have a white cat. The fur drifts off in clumps and as one or two hairs at a time, onto us, the furniture, the carpet. My Henry vacuum cleaner biught in 1986 has given up the ghost. I enquired as to a replacement motor and filter and found I could buy a replacement complete Henry for less! My question is this – when we bought our original Henry we did not have cats. Will a new one cope 🙄 or should I buy something else? 😕

Check out the Miele Cat & Dog model; recommended for pet owners.
More expensive than the Henry but spec is higher and as usual with Miele, owners seem well pleased.

It looks like one of those pathetic little sweepers, but this one is very powerful, and picks up brilliant. I love ’em!
Get them in the shop@ Dave!

I had one back under guarantee with the brush bar noisy. Phoned G.tech was told “replacement brush roll kit needed sir I will send one out today you should recieve tomorrow”. Sure enough it duly arrived and it was fitted in a couple of minutes ready for customer to collect. Job done complete within 24 hours.
Well done G.Tech

ParticipantYou need somthing with a rotating brush like an upright or a cylindr with a powerd head, pure sucktion dose not remove pet hair, If you can go for a Dyson IMO the best you can get.

Those sweepers may be fine for laminated or vinyl flooring, but they will be next to useless for carpeting. They will only remove surface litter. They won’t remove the deeply embedded grit which cuts into the carpet pile, thus destroying your carpet each time you walk upon it.
For efficient removal of grit, you must use an upright cleaner. One that has good suction, (preferably one that maintains constant suction as the receptacle fills up). The cleaner should also have a good agitator, to beat the grit out of the carpet, and good brushes to sweep up pet hair and fluff.
At this time, the dysons seem to be the best performing uprights.
Avoid the cheaper bagless cleaners. They all employ filters to hold back the dust. These filters clog, are very messy to clean, they must be cleaned EACH time the bin is emptied, and if not cleaned regularly the motor cuts out, and in some cases can burn out.
The dysons require the motor protection filter to be cleaned every 3 – 6 months, depending on the model. The exhaust filter should not need any attention; its supposed to last the lifetime of the appliance.
There is a new model supposedly coming soon, which employs a new cyclonic system, and thus the filters reportedly do not require attention for up to 2 years. So far this hasn’t been verified.

How right you are Trilobite, but surely in your house you use the Trilobite Automatic Robot System from Electrolux don’t you? 🙂

Electrolux Trilobite
….and with that up and running all over your house, dirt and grit don’t get a chance to embed into your shagpile? 😉
