Have the above mentioned hoover. Had been working fine over the past 18 months. Went to use it today – and suction was nearly nonexistant. I then cleaned both filters and tried again – still the same.

I then checked the pipes for blockages – and definitely no blockage.

When I don’t have the pipe attached it appears to have sufficient suction. However, when the pipe, etc are reattached, it doesn’t seem to have any real suction. I know that would suggest a problem in between – but I have checked, double and triple checked for blockages – and there definitely isn’t any.

On top of all of that – while trying to get that all sorted out – I noticed that the underside (presumably near the motor) was red hot. Odd – as it hadn’t really been running continuously for any reasonable length of time.

Can anyone advise if there is anything else I could check – or if this is symptomatic of a particular problem?

If I can’t resolve myself, I’d like to effect a warranty repair. The only issue with that is that I never registered the product after purchase. However, I have the original receipt. Is this likely to be an issue with VAX?
