ParticipantHi, I have a Zanussi ZDE47200W vented dryer that runs but doesn’t get warm. After taking the back off I see that the heater element initially gets hot and glows red for a few seconds and then goes cold and stays off.
I have replaced the heater and the heater Element sensor but the same thing happens.
any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Moderatorwhat do you call a few seconds ?
there are thermostats and sensors on the element that cut it out if things get too hot. without the cover in place it will overheat
with it all back together does it heat in timed mode ?

ParticipantHi Dave,
it’s about 5 to ten seconds. I have put the covers back on and it seems to be the same, although of course I can’t check but it doesn’t heat the drum.
Thanks

ParticipantSorry, missed the second part of your answer. I don’t think there’s a timed mode, only degrees of dryness on the rotary dial. Am I missing something?
cheers

Moderatoralso most later dryers wont heat unless there are wet clothes in as an energy saving feature which is why i said timed dry as somtimes its exempt

ParticipantI have been testing it with wet towels in. Do you have any other thoughts?

Moderatornext then you need to check the front temp sensor
take off right side its mounted in the fan chamberat 20 degrees C you should get a resistance around 6000 ohms

ParticipantThanks Dave. Is that a different sensor to the heater element sensor probe as I’ve already replaced that one?

ModeratorJust a thought i think there is a thermostat fitted at the front as you open the door the plastic that the door closes into there should be one there this maybe your problem
