    Re: very shocking

I have used e-bay a few times now and there are some good sellers on there but for most parts Connect is still cheaper. :duck:
I guess with a huge operation like they have it isn’t possible to be flexible enough to track all of the competition all of the time, and Baumatic stuff is fairly unusual so they could easily be out of date with prices there if they bought stuff in a while ago. I looked up a Baumatic fan element the other day and it was £48.71 but they gave alternatives down to £20. Comparing these with others and with help from elementman.co.uk’s site
I was able to ascertain that it was basically a simple three turn Lux element which I already had in stock and costs £6 (trade or e-bay) £50 (SRP).
Also, and this is an important point, if you have an order for two or three parts only at connect and it is under a certain threshold value, (not sure what) they will post it 1st class for £3.50 + vat. You have to order by phone for this though, not available via web. They answer quickly now though – they’re not busy either!

    Re: very shocking

A lot of the manufacturers, noteably Whirlpool and Maytag among others, have taken measures to try to stop trade pricing and stupid pricing appearing on Ebay. It’s partially successful.

There are a few on there flogging stuff at close to trade prices, lots of it appears to be Qualtex TBH, loads of it on Ebay at silly money.

I’ve not seen any trade distributor take any action against anyone flogging stuff cheap on Fleabay.

I do think that you will see more sanctions in time as there’s a few people selling stuff on Ebay that is, shall we say, a little dodgy.

Whilst Connect can be expensive on some parts, very good on others (again, pays to shop around) the one thing I cannot accuse them of generally is being too cheap when it comes to retail. There are a few occasions where retail pricing is under trade price bands but I suspect that’s more by accident than design.
