Ya all know or have read the thread about connects pricing.
I have assumed by that thread that i have been getting a great discount due to some of the prices some of you have posted that you get.

However this morning i require a element and a wash pump for a baumatic bfd46w.

The element is in stock at:
    Heater

    Suitable for: Baumatic • BFD46W

    From £60.21

    SRP: £81.47
    In Stock

    Code: 5045173343344

and the wash pump i have put in a part number enquiry as its not listed.

In the meantime i have rang baumatic direct and its costing me:
    £20.50 pence for the element.
£44 for the wash pump, although i dont have connects price from the enquiry yet.

I am somewhat shocked at the markup then that connect must be putting on.

Am i going to have to go direct to the manufacturers from now on?

Well certainly from your experience it seems that’s the best option. 😀

Last week I had a phone call from the Indesit co in Peterborough asking me where I bought their genuine spares from. And offered to beat the best price of those wholesalers by buying direct from Indesit. Apparently, many of the parts that shot up in price back in January this year are offered at 2008 trade prices…..?

I wonder if it’s anything to do with flagging sales of new appliances?

    LOL.
    Please lock the topic admin.
I was basically just pointing out how shocked i was at trade suppliers v’s direct manufacturers.

Alternatively lets change the subject and supply your dealers/suppliers details for the best prices youve found?

Mite drum up a bit more trade for the sensibly priced suppliers out there.

I guess its the sign of the times.

Distributors are getting less custom and manufacturers have overstock from factories.

Always pays to shop around a bit, i always look the price up on comp and then ring saying “i`ve seen the joke on your site, now quote me happy”. 😆

If the price ain`t right, shop with your feet, your custom is more valuble to today, than they`d like you too believe. 😉

There arn`t many parts even top end retail parts that cost more than £15.00 to produce.

I`ve known £150.00 retail price motors mass produced for £8.00 a unit, there is huge scope for movement, they`ve based there business around huge mark ups :rolls:

Knockin £20.00 off will not return a loss on there books, not as big a profit, but for manufactorers who purchase in huge quantites, not a great problem.

I normally compare my different suppliers for expensive parts.

Sometimes a good idea to try the manufacturers, sometimes the prices can supprise you and beat our suppliers. Shopping around pays.

    Re: very shocking

bosch spares from Connect are well over the top also , since bosch have introduced online accounts (pay by card) its cheaper to get them direct .
`Bypass connect and go direct`- hey that rhymes!! i,m in the wrong business.
    clive.

    Re: very shocking

Nothing like under writing the debt of spare parts for the national work providers by over charging you for parts in the first place just to gain control for repairs also. :whip:

Do you all think this is right or wrong????

Bout time we all took a stance and only work for manufacturers and get back the chargeable work. Things are very, very quiet at the moment

    Re: very shocking

i had to call out a service engineer from vailllant when a new boiler went faulty, during this he told me the price they get the spares for is a maximum of £20 ❓ the mark up on spares is astronomical, try telling a customer its going to cost just as much to repair their appliance as it is to buy a new one,i think we ought to have some kind of trade terms with these suppliers and i mean proper discounts for the trades. 😉

    Re: very shocking

Problem with ebay sellers though they tend to get caught by there bosses selling the parts they should have fitted that day. 😉

Its obvious to anyone if a seller is selling more than one genuine part for less than normal price.

Just read the note from Poe and thought lets look.
1701624..Creda relay Ebay £10.90 all in inc. postage
Connect £15.03 +vat and postage. I know if you order many parts its cheaper postage but I just want this one part today so Ebay get the sale.
