Wasn’t implying that at all Jim, merely a suggestion as to what might be the cause as I’ve seen people chasing faults that didn’t actually exist if you see what I mean.

Sorry Ken, you misunderstood my post.
My reply was not concerning your post in any way whatsoever, I take on board all the things you say. 😉
I was merely ‘thinking out loud’ as to what I should do regarding the call I made and wondering what the insurance company would make of it. 8)

The way they’ve been of late on multiple fronts… deeply unsympathetic which, strangely, rhymes with “pathetic”. 😉

This customer has phoned this afternoon to say that the machine is once more stuck with E08 in display. 🙁

Just been out to this again today, definite E08 and will not shift this time.
All wiring, components etc still look perfect, no signs of any dampness either.
Set to a wash programme, machine fills then tumbles anti clockwise ( from front ) for a second then cuts out, after a gap of around 45 to 50 seconds it does the same again and keeps repeating this for about three minutes, the display does not countdown. Then the machine drains out and flashes E08. During this time pressing and holding the start button has no effect, you cannot cancel the programme.
Set it to spin and this time it does exactly the same but in a clockwise direction.
Soooo, is the motor overload over sensitive or is it the inverter pcb ????
How did you go on with your E08 Tony?
Jim.

Sorry Jim, I’ve been asleep. Changed the motor before Chrimble and everything was hunky dory after that. The customer reported the E08, I didn’t see it, there was no motor action at all but it would reset ok.

That sounds promising, I have already ordered a motor. 🙂

New motor fitted, problem solved. 8)
What an absolute pig of a job changing the motor without removing the complete tub is. 8)
I still managed it though. 😀

Yup, a full compliment of assorted wedges to get any access to the screws. It can be done without upending it too 😉

Laid it down on the left side (from front) then used various Torx bits some with the ratchet handle and the rear ones just a plain Torx bit and an adjustable spanner . Getting the motor off the mounts was not easy, getting the new motor back on the four studs was possibly the hardest part of the job.
Later that day I had to do two brush changes, one on a metal drum Indesit and even more awkward, one on a Smeg made, Neff built in washer/dryer. The one with the end of one of the long mounting bolts that is almost touching the sump hose and impossible to withdraw. There is just enough room to twist the motor to the side and slide it off though. Hands and arms well scratched and scarred at the end of the day. 🙁
